The best three hotel restaurants in the Caribbean – A gourmand’s guide to our top dining experiences


e’re lucky that we travel to the finest hotels and resorts across the globe, and part and parcel of that is getting to sample some fabulous food. Pull up a seat and join us for our whistle-stop tour around some of our favourite restaurants in the Caribbean to date.



The Point Restaurant & Terrace (Rosewood Tucker’s Point, Bermuda)

The Point Restaurant & Terrace is the resort’s fine-dining restaurant, where international cuisine graces the menu and fresh local ingredients are used to optimum effect. Dine on the terrace and drink in views of the ocean, or indoors against the backdrop of a unique mural depicting 19th-century clipper ships and international ports that originally hung in the Pan Am Building’s Sky Club. If you like fish dishes, there are plenty to choose from, including the classic Bermudian chowder, as well as innovative plates such as Tisbury Great Pond oysters with crispy seaweed and passion fruit dressing wafers.

Tried and tasted by Bill Matz: ‘I ordered a fantastic piece of grilled local rockfish on a mixture of roasted potatoes, cherry tomatoes, leeks and a pineapple salsa. The combination was absolutely delicious, one of the best main courses I’ve eaten at a hotel this year.’


Hermitage Bay, Antigua

There is just one restaurant at Hermitage Bay but it sure does deliver. Executive chef Desroy Spence and his team concoct a lovely fusion of modern European cuisine with Caribbean favourites and American classics. The lunch and dinner menus change daily to take full advantage of the best fresh, local produce, while herbs, fruit and vegetables including peppers and okra are picked straight from the hotel’s organic kitchen garden. Jerk shrimp with mango or cashew fruit with rocket are just a couple of the taste sensations you can hope to try. You can dine in the restaurant and admire the sea views, but for lunch you may prefer to eat by the pool, while pre-arranged candlelight dinners can be served on the beach or on your terrace for an extra- special experience.

On The Rocks with Jean-Georges (Eden Rock, St Barths)

Taking island-chic dining to an exceptional level, On the Rocks restaurant, which is masterminded by Jean-Georges Vongerichten, promises superb signature food that seamlessly blends fine dining with exotic touches. The views are to die for, too, thanks to the restaurant’s spectacular elevated setting on Eden Rock, so as you devour classic Jean-Georges dishes such as foie gras brûlée and caramelised black cod you can gaze across St Jean Bay and benefit from the gentle sea breeze. If you’re unsure what to choose, the staff are exceptionally knowledgeable about the menu and can help you decide. Or if you’re not too hungry, pop in for cocktails and a bite from the aperitif snack menu and get ready for the sunset.

Tried and tasted by Grant Holmes: ‘I felt I got to eat everything twice; once with my eyes and then again with my mouth. I had the bacon-wrapped prawns as a starter followed by the caramelised black cod. Service is faultless.’
