Wine and truffle hunting at Castello di Casole

Autumn is a magical time in Tuscany. The gorgeous green fields start turning to burnt oranges and rusty browns, and nature’s rich bounty spoils us with the fruits of the grape harvest and white truffles. Tuck in at Castello di Casole

Autumn and the September grape harvest is an exciting time to visit Tuscany. At Castello di Casole you can take part in hand-picking around the gorgeous grounds which contain 100 acres of vineyards from where the estate’s delicious Dodici wines hail. Created using an organic wine-making process, only a small amount is produced, so it’s quite rare, but as a guest of the hotel, you will be able to try many samples. After the harvest, it’s white truffle season and if you fancy a fun day out in the countryside, take a truffle-hunting excursion to track down these prized and elusive morsels with specially trained dogs. You’ll deserve a reward afterwards, and it comes in the form of a celebratory meal where you can, of course, savour the truffles – great if you’re all about the provenance of your food.
